What is PTSD?
PTSD can arise after trauma like accidents, assault, combat, or loss. Not everyone develops PTSD resilience, support, and genetics play a role in whether trauma leads to lasting mental health effects.
What Are Trauma Related Disorders?
While PTSD is the most well known trauma related condition, there are other disorders linked to traumatic experiences, including:

Symptoms similar to PTSD appear within the first month after trauma. If symptoms persist beyond 30 days, a diagnosis may shift to PTSD.
Adjustment Disorders
These occur after major life changes or stressors and involve significant emotional or behavioral reactions that impair functioning.
Complex PTSD (C-PTSD)
C-PTSD stems from repeated trauma, causing PTSD symptoms plus shame, trust issues, and emotional dysregulation.
Dissociative Disorders
Some cope with trauma through disconnection, feeling detached, having memory gaps, or losing identity.
